It is ironic that many positive messages in the Agriculture Bill are contravened by the HS2 go ahead. Compulsory purchase is a perceived disaster for farms affected. It is to be hoped that the approach to all landowners can be more constructive than in the early phases of a project that offers little for rural areas other than through mitigating investment.
